Spring Tag

I saw Tarika from cherryblossom15 did a post with the Spring Tag, and I thought it was fun so I decided to do it as well. Here we go!

1. What eye palette will you use most this Spring?

Hm I think most of the palettes I have include a lot of bright, fun colors for spring, but I’ll say my Too Faced A Few of my Favorite Things palette because the colors are beautiful and most are named after things mentioned in the song of the same name from The Sound of Music.

2. What blush in your collection is a spring must? And what lipstick?

The two blushes in that same Too Faced palette are perfect blended together for a fresh look for spring. As for lip products, check out a post I did here!

3. What nail polish do you love to wear in spring?

So many! Check out my post here about it. Right now I’ve also been loving Essie’s Madison Ave-Hue, which is a bright Barbie pink with just a little bit of shimmer.

4. What is on your spring break agenda?

Probably just working! Haha. And reading as many books as I can on the weekends.

5. What trends are you looking forward to – fashion, nail polish, makeup etc?

I love any bright colors anywhere, but right now I’m really loving pops of color, whether it’s a subtle outfit with dramatic eyes or bright nails or a simple makeup look with a bright tank top under a black cardigan.

6. What is your signature spring scent?

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

7. Do you have a spring skincare regime?

It’s very similar to my winter skincare routine, actually, but I look for more products that have sunscreen in them for use during the day.

8. What is spring like where you live?

It depends on the day! Haha. Some days are beautiful and in the 70s with very little wind. Other days it’s windy and rainy and around 30 degrees or less.

9. Florals: got to have them or make them stop?

Got to have them! Flowers are just so pretty, and I love how they smell. A lot of the fragrances I’ve had in the past, and currently, have had some sort of floral undertone to them.

10. Favorite activity to do in spring?

I really love mini golfing and riding go karts outside, weather pending, as well as swimming. I also really enjoy sitting outside in a lounge chair, reading a book. Some days I swear there’s nothing better than that.

Well there we go! Just a short, sweet post. I hope you like my answers! If you’re reading this, I tag you to finish this out as well. Happy spring! 🙂

Top Five Products for Spring and Summer

Now that warmer weather has finally come to Fargo (at least for now), it’s time to start thinking about updating my skincare and makeup routine. Because of that, I thought it would be fun to do a post about my top five products for spring and summer that will give you a full face look. Some of these are holy grail products that I’ll use all year, and some of them I may forget about in the winter and love again in the summer. In any case, let’s get started!

L’oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder in the shade 310 Light Ivory

I have combination skin, and I tend to get really dry in the winter. Once warm weather hits, my oiliness really starts to come out, and I’ve found this foundation works great when it comes to coverage and mattifying my skin. You just need to shake the bottle up first, and then I apply a little bit on the back of my hand before blending it into my skin with my fingertips. The back of the bottle recommends using your fingers to blend instead of a brush or sponge, so that’s what I typically do. A little big goes a long way, and I feel like it does a good job of mattifying my skin throughout the day.

NYX Powder Blush in the shade Summer Peach

I feel like I look dead or something if I don’t have color on my cheeks, so lately my go-to blush has been Summer Peach by NYX. It’s a light pink color with a bit of shimmer, but it’s very subtle. One of the reasons I really like this blush is that you can apply it lightly for a subtle glow or really build up the color for a dramatic look.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in the shade Blonde

I’m bad when it comes to plucking my eyebrows, or doing anything with them really, and this has become my lifesaver. I take an angled eyeliner brush, dip it lightly into the pomade (a little bit got a long way with this product as well) and then gently glide it across my eyebrows in small strokes. Some people outline the top and bottom of their brows first and then fill it all in, but I like to go for a more natural look so I just lightly fill in any gaps or light spots and try to make my brows look relatively even. This product takes like 20 seconds to use on both eyebrows, and it’s just great.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal 24hr Eyeshadow in the shade 55 Inked in Pink

I don’t tend to go for many crazy looks when it comes to every day makeup in the summer, so I thought this would be a fun shadow because it works well as a base and primer, and it has a nice brightening effect on the eye. You can put on one layer of color for a soft effect, or you can let the first layer dry a bit and then put some more on to go for something a bit more bold. I just love the Color Tattoos, and this one works great on its own and under other shadows.

Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ Express Mascara

Of course, you know I have to mention my new holy grail mascara from Maybelline. This works way better than the $18 mascara I just got from Bare Minerals, so I’ll definitely be returning that one. This product has thicker brush, and you only need to go over your lashes with one coat of mascara. I find if you do that, it can get clumpy or a bit messy. When I first got this, I found myself just putting on a second coat without really thinking about it, as most other mascaras I’ve used look better after a second coat, but this one looks amazing right away every time. Enough said.

Favorite Lip Products for Spring

With all this cold weather that apparently doesn’t want to go away, I’ve been thinking about ways to add some brightness into my life. A few days ago I posted about some fun nail polishes for spring, and then when I was thinking of what other beauty products could help me think of sunnier times, so naturally I thought of lip products!

IMG_1053

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade Elusive

I’ve only used this a few times, but I really like it. It’s a light pink shade that looks very pretty on the lips. I don’t use it much now because since it is a matte formula, it dries out my lips a bit during winter, but I’m sure I’ll use it much more in spring and summer. It’s also pretty long-lasting and stains the lips a bit, which is nice.

IMG_1049

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in the shade Vivacious

I love this! The shade is like a dark pink with light purple undertones in it, and it really adds nice dimension to the lips. It’s just a very unique color, and it’s very pretty. The formula is nice and creamy, but it can come off pretty easily, so just be aware of that. It also doesn’t have as much staying power as the matte balm above.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in the shade Turn On

This is such a creamy, beautiful lipstick. They come in a wide variety of shades, but I really liked this one because it is a beautiful dark pink color with some nice shine to it. Also, the packaging is nice and sleek. I got this as a Christmas gift, butit fell to the bottom of my makeup bag and I recently rediscovered it. Definitely my favorite lipstick right now!

IMG_1048

Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color in the shade Pink Rave

This lip product is intense indeed! There were four shades in this line, but this is the one that stood out to me the most as one I would use most often. It’s a bright, pigmented pink color that definitely is on trend for spring.

IMG_1045

Buxom Full-Bodied Lipstick in the shade Swinger

I normally don’t like purple lipsticks because I feel like they wouldn’t look good on me, but this is an exception. It looks purple in the tube, but when you put it on, it has some pink overtones that come out as well. It can be a bit drying after a few hours, but the formula is great and very pigmented.

Favorite Nail Polishes for Spring

I love summer and bright colors, and if it ever gets above 45 degrees, life will be pretty darn good. To get my mind off the freezing weather outside, I started thinking about different beauty products to help brighten my mood. I picked out five of my favorite polishes that would be perfect for spring and summer (or now, so we can pretend it’s spring or summer), so read about my picks below. What are some nail polishes you can’t wait to use when the temps start climbing?

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in the shade Peach of Cake

This color is actually a little deeper than it looks in the picture, and when I saw it at CVS, I thought it was just the perfect color for spring and summer (if they ever get here…). This is just a bright, deep orange that I think will be super fun when the warmer temps finally hit.

IMG_1031

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in the shade Water Color

This shade also just screamed bright and fun to me. It’s a very pigmented light blue that reminds me of a pool with chlorine, which I’m sure inspired the name. It’s just beautiful, nothing else to say about it.

IMG_1034

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Nail Polish in the shade Flame On

This color is actually more of a bright hot pink than red, and it’s just a fun color. It looks really nice with the blue color above as an accent nail.

IMG_1035

Sephora by OPI Nail Polish in the shade Mermaid to Order

This is a beautiful iridescent green blue color that also reminds me of water. I love iridescent colors, and this one is just very pretty and I think it would look great on a lot of different people.

IMG_1036

OPI Nail Lacquer in the shade My Chihuahua Bites!

This is your typical hot pink/red color that hot temps are known for bringing out for people, and I can’t wait to bust it out for a fun bright look on my nails.
